Quezon City Mayor Hon. Josefina ‘Joy’ Belmonte turned over three newly constructed school buildings worth nearly to the Schools Division Office during simple inauguration programs on September 26, 2020 at three different venues.
The Mayor, assisted by some local government and DepEd Officials, led the series of ribbon – cutting ceremonies at Manuel Roxas High School, Batino Elementary School, and Quirino High School. The buildings were ceremonially accepted by the school principals Dr. Josephine Obligar, Mrs. Jaida Malonzo, and Dr. Victoria Mangosong, respectively.
The construction of school buildings has been one of the priority projects of the City to support the DepEd in realizing ideal class sizes to improve quality education in the public sector. Aside from this, over PhP112 million worth of repair and rehabilitation of school buildings in various locations have already been completed in the months of May and June this year.
Upcoming is the construction of a four-story, 16-classroom building with 8 laboratories for the establishment of the Licerio Geronimo High School in Brgy. Bagong Silangan, for which the LGU will spend PhP203,770,000. Another PhP616,383,000.00 is allocated for the construction of an eight-story, 52- classroom building with 16 laboratories for Bagbag High School in Brgy. Bagbag.
The local government has also earmarked specific amounts for the repair of the Quezon City Science
Interactive Center, the construction of the Lucrecia Kasilag SHS Performing Studio, and an extension of the Schools Division Office of Quezon City.
