Quezon City Honors Filipino Heroes in 126th Independence Day Celebration

This year, Quezon City celebrated the Philippines’ 126th Independence Day at the Quezon City Hall with brevity. The occasion under the theme “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan” remembered the contributors to Filipino liberation as well as contemplated on the country’s progress and possibility. Leading the celebration and the wreath-laying at the monument of Dr. Jose Rizal were Mr. Eric Zerrudo, Executive Director of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, and Mayor Joy Belmonte, along with city officials.
Representatives from various sectors, including the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines- Quezon City, 7th Quezon City Veterans District, QC Police District, Division of City Schools, showed their support for the event. Mr. Guillermo Nikus Telan and Mrs. Miramel Jane Andes proudly represented the Schools Division Office of Quezon City.
The celebration this year has reminded residents of Quezon City about Filipino heroism and recall its commitment on focusing on the importance of unity to pay tribute to our heritage.
